The CHIRU+ Shop offers you a comprehensive range of access instruments and accessories for safe access to the abdominal cavity.

In modern MIS surgery, two different approaches have become established for the introduction of laparoscopic instruments and laparoscopes. The so-called Hasson open approach allows access by first making a small incision around the navel (periumbilical) to insert a suitable trocar and obturator.

In the closed approach, the abdomen is punctured blindly with a Veress needle and pneumoperitoneum is created by insufflation with CO2 gas. A safety obturator can then be used to insert an access trocar for safe visualisation and preparation of the operative field.

There is no clinical evidence that either approach is superior in terms of complications. However, in gynaecology, the Veress needle approach has become increasingly popular.

As well as classic trocars and obturators, we also offer reducers, dilators and fascial suturing instruments.
